White Peach Sangria
The ultimate underrated summer cocktail and punch.
Sangria is a drink you’re probably familiar with. Red wine mixed with berries and fruit juice, it’s how the Spanish cool down and just about the only way to enjoy tapas al fresco (in my opinion).
But how familiar are you with white sangria? And to be even more precise, how familiar are you with PEACH flavoured white Sangria? Because let me tell you. If you’re yet to try a white peach sangria, you’re missing out.
Tapas, parties, summer, anywhere the sun shines, this drink is perfect for.
As I’m writing this it’s Halloween, so sangria should probably be the last thing on my mind. But just because something is perfect when paired with sun, doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy it during the colder seasons.
If you’re the kind of person who loves summer and is currently missing the sun, this white peach sangria is the perfect cocktail to make you think you’re lounging out on a Spanish beach somewhere warm.
What is white peach sangria?
A white peach sangria is a Spanish mix of white wine and peach.
Traditional sangria will be made with red wine, the “white” in this recipe refers to the use of white wine. Traditional sangria also has an array of fruit flavours, as does this one, however, for our peach sangria the main flavour you should be getting is peach. Hence the name - White Peach Sangria.
Is Sangria Alcoholic?
Sangria is alcoholic. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make this without the alcohol. Just swap out the white wine for non alcoholic wine or grape juice and you’ll be good to go. I’ll leave some more recommendations for alcohol free sangria below. Answering one question at a time. Yes, Sangria is alcoholic.
What does the word Sangria mean
The word Sangria means “bloodletting" in Spanish and in Portuguese. Sangre is the word for blood.
Although the origins of where this tipple first came from are murky, we can assume that the reason it’s called sangria is because of the blood like colour the drink should have.
However, we’re mixing things up today with a white sangria.
Alcohol Free Sangria Tips
I mentioned above about alcohol free sangria. It’s very possible to make and here are a few tips to follow to achieve a tasty non-alcoholic sangria.
Use alcohol free wine. You can keep the entire recipe the same just swapping the wine for something alcohol free.
Use white grape juice. If you’re going for this option, only use half (if any) added sugar. The white grape juice will already be sweet, so adding extra sugar will throw of the entire balance.
Use sparkling white grape soda. Once again, forget about the added sugar if you’re using this option. The only difference between this and the above grape juice option is that this one will be extra bubbly.
How do you make a white peach sangria
We’re going to go through my favourite recipe for white peach sangria on the recipe card below. But there are a number of ways you can make this your own.
The thing to remember is you want a good mix of white wine and peach. Peach needs to be your primary flavour here otherwise you just have a white sangria, not a white peach sangria.
You can do that with peach syrup, peach schnapps, peach liqueur or even peach flavoured vodka.

White Wine
Your favourite white wine will do just fine, but it’s always a good idea specifically with peach sangria to choose a wine that either pairs well with that flavour or compliments that flavours. Sauvignon Blanc and chardonnay are two wines that have natural peach undertones and as such, work perfect for this recipe. You can choose whichever you want.
Personally, I prefer the chardonnay as I find it works great with the extra fruit we’re going to add.
Peach Flavouring
Next up we’ve got our peach. Like I mentioned above, you can achieve a peachy flavour in many ways but for this recipe we’re going to stick to two. People often ask “Can I add peach schnapps to sangria?” Not only is the answer yes, but that’s exactly what we’re going to do in this recipe. For our peach we’ll be adding peach schnapps and peach syrup.
You should be able to find both easily at any supermarket. A top trick for the peaches is to buy canned peaches. The fruity preserved peaches work great as a garnish and the syrup that they come in will work as our peach syrup.
Sugar
A little sugar goes a long way in sangria. It’s needs to be quite sweet. For this recipe we will do that 2 ways. Firstly our peach syrup, secondly granulated sugar that we can stir through. Any white sugar will be fine but caster will dissolve the easiest.
Soda Water
We want to dilute our sangria, lengthen it and make it bubbly. Soda water will be our choice for that. We also want to bring the ABV down a little bit. Remember, peach schnapps is alcoholic so without the dilution we’re basically making turbo peach flavoured wine by adding alcohol on alcohol then sweetening it. Dilution will be our best friend here.
Soda water is flavourless so it’s the perfect addition for lengthening. However, feel free to swap it out if you want something with a little flavour. Lemonade is a great option or other citrus sodas such as 7 Up or Sprite.
Mixed Fruit
With just the peaches and wine, this sangria could easily fall quite flat. We want to stuff it full of bright vibrant fruit that looks great and tastes great. For this recipe I mention mixed berries. Berries work great with peach so feel free to add whatever mixed berries you like.
I like to add raspberries and blueberries.
You can also add citrus fruits like limes, lemons and oranges. Mint also works great in this recipe so dump in whatever you like the sound of or have on hand.
Now you know what’s going in there you should feel more comfortable about making changes. For example, why not swap the peach syrup for raspberry syrup and you have a raspberry sangria. Swap the mixed berries for pineapple slices and mango for something more exotic.
You can really have fun with sangria. Once you have the base down - sugar, wine, sparkling water - the rest can basically be made up and half the time it works out great.
Can you make white sangria the night before?
You can absolutely make sangria the night before. Keep in mind that the longer you leave fruit in the mix, the more the sangria will absorb the flavour. So if you want a super punchy sangria, add the fruit the night before and the next day it should be way more infused.
If you want to keep you sangria light just reserve the fruit until it comes to serving, then dump it in. Here’s a few more tips and tricks for making your Sangria the night before;
Don’t add the soda water until you plan on serving your sangria.
Always keep your sangria refrigerated.
If possible, cover the top of your jug to stop the flavours of your fridge getting in the mix. I’ll often bottle the sangria in empty wine bottles until I’m ready to serve, then I top it up with sparkling water and add the fruit just before I serve.
Can you make peach sangria with Rosé?
You can make peach sangria with rose. In-fact, peach is a flavour that pairs very well with rose wine. It’d be less white peach sangria at that point and more pink peach sangria. But it would work very well.
I’d recommend a sweeter rose wine such as a Pinot blush or Zinfandel.
Peach Juice Sangria
We spoke about all the ways you can infuse the peach flavour into your sangria, but something we didn’t mention was peach juice. So just before we get to that all important white peach sangria recipe card, let’s talk about if you want to add peach juice.
Peach juice will be super sweet, so my advice would be swap the granulated sugar AND peach syrup in place of peach juice in this recipe and everything else can be kept the same.

Before serving, taste and adjust the recipe to your liking. If you want it to be sweeter, add more peach syrup, if you want it to be drier, add more white wine. Mint also makes a great vibrant flavour to add.
