If you’re sober, sober curious, or just enjoy a good alcohol free drink and happen to live in the UK, then I have some exciting news to share with you this April. Lyre’s Agave Blanco and Lyre’s Agave Reserva are now available to you, and just in time for cinco de mayo.

For a bit of background, Lyre’s have already gained a reputation for being masters of the non-alc drink and though they boast a huge range of products from aperitifs, coffee liqueur substitutes, gins, whiskies and even a sparkling wine alternative, there has been something missing… Tequila!

back in January Lyre’s launched two new products in the US market to fill that gap, Lyre’s Agave blanco (a substitute for blanco tequila) and Lyre’s Agave Reserva (a substitute for reposado tequila).

If you’ve already heard of their Tequila substitutes then you will of no doubt heard nothing but good things.

As the mindful_mixologist, a self proclaimed voice in the mindful drinking world, I was eager to try them so once I heard they have plans to launch here in the UK, I got straight to contacting them to send me a few bottles, to which they kindly did!

I’ve covered plenty of Lyre’s products, cocktails and news here on Smartblend so adding these two new products to my content list was an absolute must.

My Review of Lyre’s Agave Spirits

I wanted to do a full unbiased review, a first taste without pre-knowledge of what I should expect from these expressions and so I decided the best way to achieve that was to film a review along with my very first tasting. Check that video out below.

How to enjoy Lyre’s Agave Spirits

The best way to enjoy Lyre’s agave spirits in my humble opinion is the same as the best way to enjoy any Tequila styled drink, with a Margarita.

After that, more cocktails that I’d recommend include the picante de la casa aka the soho house tonic or the classic paloma.

To take your cocktails one step further I have created two non-alcoholic cocktails specifically for each of these two new products.

Here you can get my recipe to a non-alcoholic bell pepper margarita made with Lyre’s reserva.

Here you can get my cocktail recipe for a non-alcoholic pear and pineapple tepache serve with Lyre’s Agave Blanco.

Check them both out and if you’ve already tried Lyre’s agave spirits, comment below what you think to help your fellow mindful drinking enthusiast.
