Disney’s Cruella De Vil Cocktail Recipe - Cruella De Daiquiri
A cocktail fit for a villain, this is the Cruella De Daiquiri inspired by Disney’s Cruella.
Cruella De Vil is truly one of the most underrated Disney villains. Now, if you’re like me and you’re A) a movie buff, and B) a Disney fanatic, then the release of Disney’s newest live action Cruella movie released on the 28th of May is truly something to look forward to.
What I do is make cocktails, so what better way to celebrate the release of what hopefully will not be a flop (update: it was not) then with a Cruella inspired cocktail.
If you know me, you will know I love a good inspired series of cocktails, and for the longest time I’ve been wanting to create a Disney inspired series.
It’s a difficult one, I like to believe my approach to cocktails is very much inline with sophistication. Which is difficult to do whilst making something look and be inspired by a cartoon villain… Originally I was going to save the cocktail until I had a collection of Disney inspired drinks recipes at the ready, but I just love how it looked so much that I had to share it now.
Sure, it's not the most sophisticated cocktail but there is character within this drink. Subtle flavours with a silky mouthfeel which pairs the sophistication and elegance of a 5 star hotel bar with the quirkiness and fun of a £5 cocktail student bar.
But I wont blow my own whistle, I’ll let you judge it and try it for yourself. Hate it? Love it? Do let me know. This is a cocktail I’m calling the “Cruella De Daiquiri”
Cruella 2021 Movie
Before we jump into the recipe I suppose I should sum up the inspiration for anyone who has been living under a rock.
Cruella is a live action prequel to 101 dalmatians. Showing a young highly troubled and fashionable Cruella de Vil played by the wonderfully talented Emma Stone.

Raspberry Syrup Recipe
For the raspberry syrup, combine 200ml of water with 200g of white sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil whilst stirring to dissolve the sugar. Once the sugar has dissolved, throw in 100 grams of raspberries and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain well then bottle the mixture.
Notes: If you use the back of a spoon to squish the raspberries you will get more of a heavy raspberry and tart flavour.
However, the end cocktail will be more pink then white. If you want the subtle raspberry flavour with the white look. Once you drop your raspberries in the sugar syrup do not touch or stir them. Let them subtly infuse your syrup.
Vanilla and Charcoal Tuile Recipe
For the vanilla and charcoal tuile, mix 30grams of oil, 30ml of water, 5ml of vanilla syrup and half a tsp of activated charcoal in a jug. Stir well.
Heat a large non stick frying pan, once hot, pour a thin layer of your tuile mix onto the dry pan and it will start to bubble away, once the bubbles subside, use a palette knife to lift your tuile from the pan. It should be crisp and filled with geometric holes in a interesting way with a somewhat fashionable Avant Garde look.
How the cocktail has been inspired by Cruella
The cocktail itself has clear Cruella vibes, From the Dalmatian spots, the black and white, the somewhat Avant Garde tuile garnish and the little pop of red coming from the raspberry.
However, there is inspiration in the flavour as well. I’ve used the angular garnish to show a somewhat fierce look but what you will notice is although there is 50ml of hard booze in this drink, the flavour is quite subtle and light. Not to mention almost perfumed by the rose water. A couture cocktail where the booze sneaks up on you, fit for a fashionista villain indeed.
The Disney Cocktail Series
As I mentioned above, My goal is to make a whole range of these Disney inspired cocktails. I've previously done movie and TV cocktails like the Gibson from the queens gambit, A sex in the city cosmopolitan and a listicle on the top movie and TV cocktails. I’ve even done a Bling Empire original inspired by Kelly Mi Li. But I’d really like to do a full Disney menu of cocktails shared here with you which you can recreate at home.
