King Charles Cocktail
King Charles's Coronation is took place on Saturday May 6, 2023 at Westminster Abbey. Whether you support the monarchy or not, Live in the United Kingdom or not, it was a great time to spend the day getting together with family and friends and raising a glass to whatever you want.
Basically, us brits get an extra bank holiday and a reason to day drink... In support of the king, of course.
I’d say that warrants the king having his own cocktail dedicated to him.
Oh, and if you like this, try this non alcoholic twist on a British Pimm’s Cup next.
The Official Coronation Cocktail
Officially unofficial that is…
I mean, I am The Cocktail Coach (on YouTube), also known as The Mindful Mixologist (hit me up on Instagram at mindful_mixologist), also known as the Great British Bartender (hit me up on tiktok at the great British bartender).
That's surely enough credentials for me to call something official, right? I don't know but what I do know is I really should start using the same name for my socials…
The King Charles Cocktail
For this cocktail I wanted to use everything British and everything King Charles.
He loves his gardening, so I went ahead and threw in some British grown strawberries and cucumbers as a base.
He also has connections with Scotland so I just had to give a nod to that in this drink. So instead of the usual and London Dry Gin which is to be expected, I went ahead and used a Scottish gin. Any will do.
Then seems as I went so north for the spirit, and the middle of the UK for the fruit, I decided I needed something from far south. And what better then English dry cider made with English apples. Cider screams English after all so it was an absolute must.
Variations
As for variations and as this is a celebration, I urge you to try this with English Sparkling Wine instead of the cider.
I’m calling that one the Royal Coronation Cocktail.
King Charles Cocktail Video Recipe
I’ve also threw together a little video of how to make this cocktail which you can view above, or keep scrolling for that all important cocktail recipe card.
