The holidays are the perfect time to indulge in delicious drinks, but why not try something a little different this year?

While spiced eggnog and mulled wine are great classics, a Coconut Christmas Cocktail like my recipe here brings a refreshing tropical twist to your holiday celebrations. Imagine creamy coconut flavor combined with festive spices and vanilla ice cream.

I like to think of it as the Mele Kalikimaka of the cocktail world.

Why You’ll Love the Coconut Christmas Cocktail

The Coconut Christmas Cocktail is a great alternative for those who want something a little different than the usual holiday drinks. Here’s why you’ll love it:

  1. Tropical Flavors: If you’re craving something creamy, refreshing, and just a little different, this drink blends the tropical richness of coconut with the festive warmth of Christmas spices.

  2. Creamy & Smooth: The coconut cream gives the drink a velvety texture that’s indulgent without being too heavy. Plus, it’s not too sweet, so it’s easy to drink while still feeling festive.

  3. Simple Ingredients: You don’t need a lot of fancy ingredients to make this cocktail shine. A few basic items are all it takes, and it comes together in minutes.

  4. Impressive & Fun: The presentation of this drink with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a coconut rim is perfect for holiday parties. It’ll wow your guests without requiring complicated preparation.

Ingredients for the Coconut Christmas Cocktail

Making this cocktail doesn’t require a bunch of exotic ingredients. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and festive drink in no time!

For the Cocktail:

  • 1 ½ oz Coconut Rum (Coconut rum adds a smooth, coconut flavor that’s perfect for a holiday tropical drink. Malibu Rum is a popular choice, but feel free to experiment with other coconut rums.)

  • 1 oz Coconut Cream (Coconut cream is richer and creamier than coconut milk, giving the cocktail a delicious, velvety texture.)

  • 1 oz White Chocolate Liqueur (White chocolate liqueur adds a touch of sweetness and creaminess that complements the coconut perfectly.)

  • 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream (any will be fine but for reference I used Madagascan)

For the Garnish:

You can really go as wild or tame as you want with this. Personally I dip the rim into honey then into desiccated coconut, I then finish it off with a coconut ball filled with chocolate (a raffaello).

Though if you cannot find any raffaellos because it’s Christmas and they’re sold out, just dip a Ferrero rocher into honey then desiccated coconut. It does the same thing.

You can even break it apart for a nutty chocolaty garnish like this…

Tips for Making the Perfect Coconut Christmas Cocktail

  • Use Coconut Cream, Not Coconut Milk: Coconut cream is much thicker and richer than coconut milk, which makes it the perfect ingredient for a creamy cocktail.

  • If you can’t find coconut cream, you can also use coconut milk, but the texture and creaminess won’t be the same.

  • Adjust the Sweetness: The white chocolate liqueur adds a sweet touch, so if you prefer a less sweet drink, feel free to cut back on the amount of coconut cream or ice cream you use.

  • Rim the Glass for Extra Flair: Adding a shredded coconut rim isn’t just for looks; it also gives a nice texture and a little extra coconut flavor with each sip.

If you want a more festive touch, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or sugar to the rim mix.

  • Make It a Mocktail: To make this a non-alcoholic version, simply skip the coconut rum and white chocolate liqueur, and replace them with pineapple juice or coconut water for a tropical, creamy mocktail.

Why the Coconut Christmas Cocktail is Perfect for the Holidays

The Coconut Christmas Cocktail is a great choice if you’re looking for something unique and fun to serve at your Christmas party.

It’s light and tropical, making it a refreshing option if you’ve had a few too many heavy winter cocktails.

Plus, the creamy texture and sweetness from the coconut and white chocolate create the perfect balance of indulgence without going overboard.

It also looks amazing with the coconut balls (which by the way, you can also use these to garnish it). And because it’s a blended cocktail, no shaker or knowledge of shaking is needed and it’s easy to make in large batches.

If you love coconut, this drink will be your new Christmas go-to. It’s easy to make, perfectly creamy, and full of coconut, White chocolate, rum., and vanilla ice cream. This is the Mele Kalikimaka of the cocktail world.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Prep your glass by pouring honey onto a plate, then desiccated coconut on another plate. Dip your glass rim into the honey then the coconut and store in the fridge till you're ready to use.
  2. Add everything to a blender with a handful of ice and blend till smooth. If it's too thin, add more ice, if it's too thick, add more coconut cream.
  3. Strain into your chilled coconut rim glass.
  4. Garnish with a chocolate snowball.

Notes

You can normally get chocolate coconut balls which is what is used to garnish this drink (such as a raffaello). But if you can't, just do what I did and dip a ferrero rocher in honey and desiccated coconut. Adds a luxury twist to this coconut Christmas cocktail.
