Chocolate eggnog made easy.

Amarula chocolate eggnog

Jump to Recipe

With it being Christmas, I figured there's no time like the present to be indulging in pure creamy goodness. Truth be told, I tend to have more of a “bitter, brown and stirred down” attitude when it comes to cocktails. However, there's just no denying that no matter what you’re cocktail preference is. There's always a bit of love inside for just pure creamy chocolatiness.

Something to take you back to your mudslide days in TGI’s or £2 student cocktails from some sticky dive bar. Low ABV, creamy, a little bit sickly and pure indulgent.

This is very much that kind of cocktail. I know I don’t seem to be selling it much but believe me, this sh*t is delicious, D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S… if I do say so myself.

Recently I’ve made my yearly eggnog which you can find the recipe for here. Be sure to check that post out first. Firstly because its delicious and secondly you will need eggnog for this recipe.

Chocolate Eggnog Video Recipe

Check out the above video on how to make this cocktail. The video doesn’t include the amounts or what actually is going in this so I’ve included the good old fashioned written recipe for you below.

Chocolate Eggnog Ingredients

  • 50ml Amarula vanilla spice

  • 50ml Hot chocolate

  • 50l Eggnog recipe and substitutes below

  • Whip cream

  • Dark chocolate

  • Nutmeg

  • Dark chocolate chips

  • Chocolate sauce

Eggnog

Check out this post here to learn how to make the eggnog for this recipe. If you don't want to make the eggnog you can substitute it for half and half for an even sweeter chocolate tipple.

To make the half and half simply mix equal parts milk and double cream. If you try it with the half and half and love this recipe I highly recommend trying it with the eggnog. It just completed the cocktail it really does.

Hot chocolate

The hot chocolate in this recipe, even though its cooled so not that hot just adds a certain deliciousness to it. When using your hot chocolate be sure to get a milk based one and not a water one.

If you want you can always substitute making your hot chocolate for a bottle of chocolate milk. It has pretty much the same result.

Make it your own

amarula chocolate eggnog

This recipe is only 3 ingredients really. Sure, you have to make the eggnog which takes a few more ingredients. But at the end of the day, this recipe is only 3 things, eggnog, chocolate milk and Amarula vanilla spice cream.

The bulk of what goes into this is the added extras, the chocolate rim on the glass, the chocolate sauce pattern on the inside of the glass. All the whip cream additions.

All of which you can totally swap out for whatever you want! You don’t have to use dark chocolate and nutmeg on your whip cream, you could use white chocolate and cinnamon. Or stick a flake in it! Whatever you want.

Root around the back of your baking cupboard looking for chocolate sprinkles you have never used or dust the whip cream with even more hot chocolate powder.

Part of the fun is decorating the drink so get creative and make it your own.

Hot Chocolate Stations

This chocolate eggnog also pairs really well with an adult hot chocolate station and this boozy hot chocolate. So check out both those guides to learn more about them.
